statement to US entertainment site Variety confirmed the news.

“We’re looking at different marketing promotions in the U.S. to attract new members and give them a great Netflix experience,” a representative told Variety.

In the past, Netflix offered a 30-day free trial to entice people to subscribe to its service of video streaming entertainment content, mostly movies, TV shows and documentaries.

In the Philippines, subscriptions start at P149 and go up to P549 a month, depending on the plan.

But visitors to the site now will be asked to create a membership profile through a subscription or restart their existing membership.

According to Variety, Netflix started phasing out its free trial offers in other markets around the world.

Various studies have indicated that Netflix and other streaming platforms have benefited greatly during the coronavirus pandemic as quarantine orders have kept many people indoors.
