Siquijor Through the Lens: A Photo Trip Across the Mystical Island

Siquijor. The name itself conjures images of white sand beaches, hidden waterfalls, and a laid-back island vibe. I recently spent some time exploring this island, and while the experience itself was the main focus, I had the Oppo Reno13 5G with me to document the trip.

Getting around Siquijor means navigating a mix of paved roads and rough terrain. The Reno13, with its slim design, felt comfortable to carry around, slipping easily into my pocket. The phone has an IP69 rating, meaning it’s protected against dust and splashes, which was reassuring given the unpredictable weather and the occasional splash from a waterfall. I even took it for a quick dip underwater at Cambugahay Falls, and it handled it fine, capturing some decent underwater shots.

Road-Testing the Oppo Reno 10 Pro 5G

For photography, the Reno13 has a triple camera setup: a 50MP main camera, an ultra-wide lens, and a macro lens. At La Canopee during sunset, I used the ultra-wide lens to try and capture the vastness of the coastline as the sun went down. The AI LivePhoto feature was on by default, adding a bit of movement to the photos.

At Cambugahay Falls, one of the most-visited attractions on the island, I mostly used the 50MP main camera. The photos came out reasonably sharp, and the AI seemed to boost the colors a bit. It’s a decent camera for general snapshots. When I visited Lugnason Falls, I tried out the zoom feature. It has up to 2x optical zoom and 20x digital zoom. The optical zoom produced better results, as expected, with less noticeable loss of detail compared to the digital zoom.

A typical day in Siquijor involves a lot of moving around. The Reno13 has a MediaTek Dimensity 7020 processor and 8GB of RAM. It handled basic tasks like navigation, checking maps, and posting photos without any noticeable lag. The 5000mAh battery lasted me through most days, and when I needed to charge, the 67W fast charging was useful for a quick top-up. 

One of the highlights was the Runik Night Party. It was a good opportunity to see how the camera performed in low light. The phone’s Night Mode brightens the photos considerably. While the results weren’t perfect, they were usable for sharing on social media.

Overall, the Oppo Reno13 5G was a functional tool for documenting my trip to Siquijor. It handled the basics well: taking photos, navigating, and staying connected. It wasn't about the phone being the star of the show, but rather a reliable companion for capturing the moments of my island adventure. The photos and videos served as a nice reminder of the experiences I had there, from the stunning sunsets to the refreshing waterfalls and the vibrant nightlife. It did what it needed to do, without any major hiccups.
