Answering customers’ questions is one of the most taxing parts of running a business, especially if the questions are already answered in your many ads, campaigns, and social media posts.

Hizon’s Cakes and Pastries, an institution established in 1946 that has carved a name for itself as one of the best makers of caramel cakes and dedication cakes, is taking up the cudgels for exasperated business owners by being a straight shooter and telling customers how it is.

But it makes sure to tell it in a pretty way—using pastel colors, a friendly font, and a heart emoji—like the time it announced it had blocked some customers from its messaging app.

Numerous times, Hizon’s strongly advised customers to use a trusted courier service and not a motorcycle rider to pick up their cakes.

The cake shop also has a few words about the multi-coded lockdowns.

Or another business with the same name.

Passive-aggressive sentiments aside, Hizon's Cakes & Pastries is a favorite go-to bakeshop of many generations in Manila. Its weekends and holidays are always filled with orders, so it's best to order in advance and book a very reliable pickup service so your cake won't be destroyed while being transported.

Their cakes are always moist and fluffy, and not too sweet but not bland either. All their cakes are layered with a light caramel filling, even their popular mocha cake.

Below are some of Hizon's creations.
