U.S. and Chinese Warplanes in Scary Close Encounter in the South China Sea

A Chinese jet fighter was filmed flying too close to a U.S. surveillance plane over the South China Sea. The incident happened in international airspace above waters China is illegally claiming. 

The Chinese J-11 fighter flew within 6 meters of a US Air Force RC-135 aircraft.  

In a statement, U.S. Indo-Pacific Command claimed the Chinese pilot "performed an unsafe maneuver during an intercept of a US Air Force RC-135 aircraft."

According to the U.S. Indo-Pacific Command, the Chinese plane flew within 20 feet of the nose of the U.S. surveillance aircraft, forcing it to take evasive maneuvers.
