It is undeniable that fashion allows us to express ourselves through what we wear. Because how we dress is one of the first things people notice about us, we want to be perceived as the most authentic version of ourselves from the start.

This is what Kenzo's Fall-Winter 2022 collection is all about. Kenzo's new creative director, Nigo, describes his debut collection as an "authentic wardrobe founded in a forward-thinking approach to fashion." He took inspiration from the maison's heritage and his own contemporary sartorial philosophy. This is seen in the pieces' genderless silhouettes that make them easily wearable for just about anyone, regardless of how they choose to identify themselves.

The collection's thrust is further amplified with their "Real-To-Be" project that brought together eight talented musicians to reveal their authentic selves in the form of their craft. Repping the Philippines is Careless Music's CEO and founder, James Reid, appearing alongside Asian musicians: Hong Kong-based Tyson Yoshi, Singaporean singer-songwriter Aisyah Aziz, Indonesian singer Afgan, Korean singer-songwriter BIBI, Vietnamese singer Erik, Thai singer and actor Jaylerr, and Taiwan-based Australian singer-songwriter Julia Wu.

Clad in Kenzo's "Real-To-Wear" pieces, James' video and photos conclude with him in the spotlight against a red billboard, a nod to the brand's iconic color but also to how they shine in the spotlight while revealing their genuine spirit and soul.

On a personal level, James further echoes Kenzo and Nigo's intention of highlighting personal style and verity. He posts on Instagram, invoking his fans to "Be persistent with your vision. To stay real is to stay loyal to yourself." He goes on to share his journey carving his own path in music. James writes, "I launched my music label to uplift artists who hold similar values as me." He ends his posts reminding fans to pursue passions that are aligned with their true essence. "From what I create and share with the world to how I style myself; everything aligns with who I am. Show off your fierce confidence! You are here to be YOU," he said.

According to Kenzo, James and the other musicians were chosen to represent the brand as they remain grounded in their authenticity by devoting their time to their music, which is seen as an inspiration that can be embodied and used to motivate others to follow their passions. The project also documents their true attitudes and satisfaction with doing what they love.
