Philippine Airlines Is Adding Direct Flights to Cambodia in September

While the rainy season is starting to kick in, it’s not yet too late to channel the island wanderer in you. Known for its sunny and picturesque beaches, Cambodia could be one of your best picks, especially now that flag carrier Philippines Airlines is mounting more flights to the Asian country.

Starting September 1, trips from Manila to Phnom Penh will be increased to five times weekly from the current four flights. These will be every Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday at 9:50 p.m. Returning flights, meanwhile, will be at 12:45 a.m. on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. The additional trips are still part of efforts to promote tourism, specifically between the Philippines and Cambodia, while more people are expected to be out and about once the "ber" months begin.

“Manila is a convenient connecting hub for [passengers],” Cielo Villaluna, PAL’s spokesperson, said in an interview with the Philippine News Agency. “We are also serving travelers between Phnom Penh and the United States, Australia, Japan, and other countries in [our] network.”

Right now, PAL is the only carrier offering direct flights to the Cambodian capital, according to the Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA). The airline has been actively laying down plans to launch and relaunch trip to Asian neighbors like India and Sapporo in Japan, despite supply setbacks — a move seen to broaden its flight network, as well as offer a better travel experience for passengers.
